Independence Day

It has been a great week visiting with Mother and seeing both my sisters.  It is the first time since 2004, all of us have been together at one time.  In 2004 it was for my retirement from the military.  I guess this time it is the beginning of my new chapter.  Either way it was awesome to see them.  I also got to see my great nieces.

I worked on some more industrial images this week.  I really did not see much that interested me for the Monuments to Death series, but I did take some photos.  I will need to review again.

Today was Independence Day - a time to pause and give thanks for the wonderful country we live in here in America.   The freedom we have here, bought and paid for with the blood of our sons and daughters, should never be taken for granted.  Each of us has a responsibility to ensure that freedom continues for the generations that follow us.  I posted this photo to my Facebook, and my instructors would kill me because it was done using Instagram, but I like it.

Now the next stop is Big Bend National Park, Texas.  I am looking forward to it.  It will be the first western landscapes I want work on.  I hope to get some sunsets and sunrises as well.  I won’t get there for a couple of days.  I am now on the no more than 300 miles a day plan.  I want to slow down and try to really see things as I travel.

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th.

Allen
